Q: Is the Casula Powerhouse related to the Powerhouse in the city?
A: The Casula Powerhouse is not related to the Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo.
We simply share the name.

Q: What happened to Reverse Garbage?
A: The Reverse Garbage was moved over 4 years ago to utilise the space for the third stage of capital redevelopment. You can access a similar Reverse Garbage scheme in Marrickville
Q: Is there anything for families and kids?
A: We have a lot of programs after school,on the weekend and during school holidays for adults and children. See “Get Creative”
Q: How can schools be involved?
A: Casula Powerhouse has education programs that bring the visual arts program to life targeted at primary and secondary students. We also have schools performances for our shows. See “Education” for more information.

Q: Are there art tours in languages other than English?
A: For many of our exhibitions, we do have guides in Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Italian, Serbo Croation and Hindi for example.
Q: What’s contemporary art?
A: Contemporary art is art that is being made NOW. Anything is possible in contemporary art. It’s not limited to painting and sculpture like traditional art.
Some of the branches of contemporary art include: Conceptual art, installation, new media and performance.
Often conceptual art is concerned with ideas. It is not always about objects like a painting is for example. Conceptual art challenges us because it makes us reconsider how we relate to the world.

Q: How can I get an exhibition of my own happening at Casula Powerhouse?
A: Artists must present a proposal for consideration which is then assessed by a programming team. This can take quite some time and generally we program 18 months in advance. Contact our Artistic Director for further information.
