Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre hosts a range of performances and workshops to cater for students studying a wide range of topics. Workshops and tours provided include Poetry in Action, Performance, Backstage tours and technical tours. See below for a list of workshops for 2012. To book, click on the booking link to your left.
Theatre Excursion Packages
Your school’s visit will include:
• A two-hour session of any of the workshops below,
• A 20-minute backstage tour of Casula Powerhouse Theatre.
All workshops and tours are syllabus-linked and will be onducted by experienced theatre education facilitators.
Cost: $10/student with a minimum of 20 students booked.
Individual excursion programs can be tailored to your school’s needs upon consultation with the Education Officer.
Backstage tours of Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre’s theatre and stage | Years K – 12, Max. capacity is 30 students per workshop.
Give your students a unique opportunity to explore the backstage of a theatre. Students will be shown the different elements of the backstage, sound booth, lighting box with our professional theatre technicians and educators.
Years K-6 | Play-building and theatre devising | Years 5 – 6, Max. capacity is 30 students per workshop.
Students will learn how to build on the elements of drama and theatre such as character, focus, tension, time, place, situation, space, structure, language, sound, movement and audience engagement.
Anti-bullying drama workshops | Years 4 – 6, Max. capacity is 30 students per workshop.
The anti-bullying workshops aim to encourage students to investigate the serious subject of bullying in a relaxed and informal environment. Students will be instilled with a heightened awareness of bullying, in all its forms, discuss ways of tackling bullying, and will realise the negative effects of bullying on their peers.
Years 7-12 | Introduction to Shakespeare | Years 7 – 10, Max. capacity is 30 students per workshop.
Students will receive an introduction to reading, performing and understanding Shakespeare’s plays in an interactive drama workshop.
Play-building and theatre devising | Years 7 – 12, Max. capacity is 30 students per workshop.

The contemporary dance workshops will encourage students’ creativity and develop their movement and technical skills, whilst aiming to nurture individual
