Theatre Education Program

Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre has a series of syllabus-based theatre workshops for primary and secondary schools. For more enquiries, or to make a booking, contact our Education Officer on 9824 1121 or reception@casulapowerhouse.com.

Workshops run for two hours each and can be booked any time during the school year. We require a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30 students per workshop.

Primary Schools

One workshop booking: $12 per student | Two workshop bookings: $20 per student
Music & Movement: Get your students moving, singing and dancing in this fast paced and energetic workshop.
Introduction to Theatre & Performance: Give your students an inspiring introduction to theatre in this engaging and dynamic workshop.
Anti-bullying drama workshops: The anti-bullying workshops aim to encourage students to investigate the serious subject of bullying in a relaxed and informal environment.

Secondary Schools

One workshop booking: $15 per student | Two workshop bookings: $25 per student
All bookings include a FREE 40-minute backstage tour of the theatre (subject to availability).

Backstage tour of Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre’s theatre and stage: Students have a unique opportunity to explore what goes on behind the scenes of a theatre, where they will be shown the different elements of the backstage.

Introduction to Shakespeare: Students will receive an introduction to reading, performing and understanding Shakespeare’s plays in an interactive drama workshop.

Play-building: Students will learn how to build on the elements of drama and theatre such as character, focus, tension, time, place, situation, space, structure, language, sound, movement, dramatic meaning and audience engagement.

Devising the Group Performance: This workshop is specifically for Preliminary and HSC students to assist in devising their group performance.

Monologue Performance: This workshop will introduce students to the elements of an effective and engaging monologue performance.

Improvisation: Through engagement in games and physical theatre techniques, students will unlock their spontaneity and creativity.

Directing: Students will gain the tools and techniques to successfully direct a production.

Scriptwriting: Students will gain skills in developing character and writing dramatic action.

Critical Analysis: This workshop will give students the skills to write critically about theatre.

Sound & Lighting: Give your students a fantastic introduction to sound and lighting for theatre with one of our professional theatre technicians.
