Leo Tanoi and Su’a Suluape Petelo, traditional Samoan tattooist
Leo Tanoi’s exhibition looks at the history and change of islander attitudes towards Samoan tattooing. His work explores stories of copyright and change, and the uncertain future of tattoo designs from a traditional perspective. Su’a Suluape Petelo, the master tattooist, will be tattooing Samoan warriors for two days at the start of the exhibition.

Thelma Thomas, Fijian artist, has beenworking with local Western Sydney Pacific kids to create digital stories about their lives.

VIRTUAL MUSEUM PACIFIC PROJECT
Sharing Stories from the Australian Museum Pacific Collection

The Australian Museums’ Virtual Museum Project (VMP) is an online collection that features 400 of the 60,000 objects from the Museum’s Pacific Island Collection. You are invited to explore and comment on the exhibition within the VMP, through a digital viewing centre installed at Casula Powerhouse.
This project is in collaboration with Wollongong University.
