Liverpool City Art Prize - Call for Artist Registrations
The Rotary Club of Greenway and Rotary Club of Liverpool, in partnership with Liverpool City Council, is pleased to announce the annual Liverpool City Art Prize (LCAP). We are calling for artists to enter new work. Registrations close on Monday 16 August, 4.30pm.
A national competition, with a $10,000 prize for the overall winner and $500 for the People's Choice Award. The LCAP is open to artists of all levels, regardless of age or location. LCAP is open themed, appealing to a broad range of styles; from the emerging to the established, contemporary to traditional, from painting to new media.
The 2010 Liverpool City Art Prize also includes 4 additional acquisitive awards of $1,000 each and 2 children's awards of $250 each.

Closing date for artist registrations: 4.30pm, Monday 16 August 2010
Artwork drop off at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre: 10am – 4:30pm on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 August 2010.
Exhibition: 3 – 12 September 2010
Official Launch: Friday 3 September 2010 at 7pm

Prize categories include:
Liverpool City Art Award Open to all artists
$10,000
Figurative/portrait Any 2 dimensional artwork which represents the human form, it may be of the body, the face or the full figure.
$1,000
Traditional Any 2 dimensional artwork which represents a landscape, still life, interior or inanimate everyday object in a traditional style.
$1,000
Abstract A non-objective or non-representational 2 dimensional composition without a recognisable subject, the colour and form are the subject.
$1,000
Local Artist Award Any artwork created by an artist who lives in the Liverpool local government area.
$1000
People's Choice Award Any artwork which receives the most votes from exhibition patrons.
$500
Children’s Prizes include
(Primary) $250 – Open to any artist aged 3-12 years of age
(Secondary) $250 – Open to any artist aged 13-18 years of age
Judges
Litsa Veldekis
Litsa has a Masters of Art (Curatorship & Modern Art) from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts (Art History & Theory and Performance Studies). She has worked for the National Gallery of Australia Foundation, coordinated the inaugural Paddington Art Prize and managed commercial art businesses specialising in Australian Modern and Contemporary Art. Litsa joined Deutscher-Menzies in 2005, went on to manage the Sydney operation as Head of Art and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in January 2009.
Litsa will supported by Barry Hancock, past President of the Rotary Club of Liverpool and Liverpool City Mayor, Wendy Waller.
