Made on the Kitchen Table is an inspirational project and exhibition developed with absolute integrity - a project owned, managed and maintained by Aboriginal women.
Share the journey of seventeen local Aboriginal women who tell their stories through pottery, traditional basket weaving and digital photography. Highlighting both traditional and contemporary art skills, the exhibition provides the public with the chance to experience some of the diversity of artmaking being done by Aboriginal women in the South Western Sydney community.
The works displayed for the first time, have been developed through a long term project commissioned by Casula Powerhouse that gave local Aboriginal women the opportunity to explore their creativity and develop new skills.
Made on the Kitchen Table is an initiative of Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre supported by the NSW Department of Community Services, Liverpool Women’s Health Service, South West Sydney Area Health Service, Liverpool Women’s Resource Centre, Joan Harrison Support Services for Women and local Aboriginal women of Fairfield and Liverpool.
