With the aspiration to nurture and promote the creativity of our new generations, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre is proud to present the Portrait Galeria exhibition. Portrait Galeria, facilitated by Spanish and Visual Arts teacher Flora Cortez, is a collaborative project between Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and All Saints Catholic Primary School Liverpool.
All Saints Catholic Primary School has significant history and legacy in the Liverpool area. The school began in 1828 and was the third Catholic School to be established in Australia. The school today continues to build on its innovation by combining visual arts with Spanish language classes.
This project provided an opportunity for children to produce a body of work through various mediums such as painting, drawing and finger painting whilst also learning to speak Spanish in the process.
Portrait Galeria enables Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre to promote the value and importance of creative expression in children. It is an opportunity for children to develop their aesthetic awareness and to experience the rewards and excitement of art making.
This exhibition produced by children for children, also provides adults with a rare chance to engage with a different world of imagination and perception.
