MISSION
The Australian Muslim Women’s Arts and Community Development Project will support Australian Muslim women to engage their communities in the creation of artworks that will be exhibited within diverse communities nationally. It will engage Local Government Councillors, staff and constituents in dialogue with Muslim communities around the touring exhibition and assist them to generate locally relevant strategies/projects for ongoing dialogue.
It will develop relationships with further National and International Presenters to host the touring exhibition and/or commission new works from the practitioners.
GOALS
1. Develop the artistic, leadership, and community and cultural development skills of Muslim women practitioners – artists, artisans, curators, writers and cultural producers, from around Australia (the practitioners).
2. Establish, support and resource an ongoing active network of Muslim women practitioners with the capacity to engage with and influence community, arts, cultural and service providing organisations.
3. Produce an exhibition of high quality new artworks created by Muslim women practitioners and present it in four local Government arts facilities in Australia.
4. Engage Muslim and non-Muslim communities in dialogue.
5. Develop and maintain efficient and transparent management practices.
