Girls Get Active School's Gala Day
This special event will be part of International Women’s Day celebrations run in conjunction with the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre’s Onside exhibition and Women in Sport Initiative on Friday 8 March 2013. Onside is an art exhibition which examines the complex issues relating to women and sport through an arts and cultural lens. School girls from up to 20 high schools will be invited to participate in a variety of fun, safe and inclusive physical activities to highlight the importance of women and girls involvement in sport.
The day will begin at 8.30am and include:
- An exclusive Inspirational Speakers session where girls will listen to prominent Australian female athletes, talk about their sporting experiences and achievements, followed by an opportunity for Q&A.
- A Girls’ Breakfast which will give participants an opportunity to interact with speakers.
- A tour of the Onside exhibition.
- Participation in sporting activity stations offering skills and modified games from a selection of traditional and modern sports.
Who can attend?
Female high school students from years 7-12
The cost for any required transport to and from the venue will need to be covered by the school.
