EVENTS: APPI GHOST TOURS
26 Apr 2019 | 8.00pm - 10.00pm
Book TicketsJoin APPI Ghost Hunts and Tours for a night of ghostly tales at the imposing Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, a daunting heritage listed power station.
This eerie and foreboding building was coal and oil fired, and its large oil and water tanks remain on site, as do parts of the heavy concrete groundworks used for loading coal from the railway.
The Electricity Commission of NSW was established during the post World War II period of severe power shortage. In the 1950s a number of package power stations, all of similar design were built to provide interim local generating capacity while a state wide grid based on regional power stations was established. Similar power stations were constructed at Casula, Penrith, Port Kembla and Maitland. During the 1950s Casula was changing from a small farming community to a growing area linked to the expansion of Liverpool. The power station brought employment to the local area at that time.
Ghostly Activity
Among many other reports, visitors to the powerhouse have reported dark shadows and strange voices heard, along with heavy booted footsteps and the rattling of keys, the theatre and residence in particular are areas packed with paranormal activity.
Reports of a little girl (we call her Alma) running along the hallways have come from over a dozen people, possibly even more. There have been sightings of her from people who didn't even know the place was haunted.
