EVENTS: ASYIK CASULA INDONESIAN CULTURAL DAY

ASYIK CASULA: Indonesian Cultural Day is an asyik day of activities for all ages (asyik meaning “fun!” and “enjoy!” in Indonesian slang).

The day includes art workshops, dance and body percussion workshops and performances by Suara Dance Company and Sydney’s Indonesian community. The day concludes with a conversation with artists involved in the looking here looking north exhibition.

Indonesian food, traditional drinks and crafts will be available to purchase on the day. Bellbird Dining & Bar will also be open.


PROGRAM:
10.30am- 12pm: About Batik – workshop exploring the patterns and motifs in Indonesian textiles (suitable for ages 5+)
11.00am -1.30pm: Puppet Making –workshop (all ages)
12pm-1pm: Suara Indonesia Dance –performance and body percussion workshop
1pm- 1.30pm: Performances by Sydney’s Indonesian Community including traditional folk music group Gita Suara Sydney Vocal Group, Dulwich Hill Primary Poppers with Poppin Jack, Suara Indonesia Kids class and Suara Cabang Bu Hasrat Lakemba
1.45pm-2pm: Performance by Kartika Suharto-Martin as part of the looking here looking north exhibition
2pm-3pm: Artist Talk - conversation with the artists from the looking here looking north exhibition


For 9 - 10 February:
Please be advised that trackwork on the Bankstown and Leppington/South Line trains will affect how you travel to Casula this weekend: There will be trackwork between Fairfield and Glenfield and between Liverpool and Bankstown. Buses will also replace trains between Ashfield and Central.
