EXHIBITIONS: NEXT 2018

10 Feb 2019 - 31 Mar 2019 | 9.00am - 4.00pm

An annual exhibition of HSC artworks from local high schools. Featuring over twenty promising South Western Sydney artists, these highlights have been selected from 15 local high schools located in the City of Liverpool.

Join us for the Exhibition Launch on Saturday, 16 Feb from 2pm. All are welcome to attend.

"My third opportunity to preview and review NEXT has proved to be more rewarding than ever, with the bar being raised yet again in both artistic ambition and technical excellence within these 25 works by 20 students from 15 local high schools.

As a collection, a bigger picture also emerges: most of these young artists have something to say! You don’t even need to read their descriptions of the works (but I suggest you do) to realise they are grappling with some of the biggest questions. Questions we older people didn’t have to consider when we were their age.

Interior and exterior landscapes are explored and interrogated. Hopes, fears, dreams and nightmares are revealed. This emerging generation’s deep engagement with the whole world is here for all to see, pointing a way forward for our very survival as people and planet.

Enjoy the insights that their perspectives bring to us all and the discomfort their truths may provoke.

Let’s listen to them and at least take some comfort in the fact that the future will be in better hands than ours."
