EXHIBITIONS: INTERREGNUM - PENELOPE CAIN
30 Mar 2019 - 12 May 2019 | 9.00am - 4.00pm
An interregnum is the period between rulers - a break in continuity as the rule of one sovereign ends and the next ascends— a gap between hierarchies, between sets of rules and systems of governance. A gap in continuity and emergence of new powers.
Interregnum is a solo exhibition by Penelope Cain. The artist takes Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre’s history as a coal-power generating station as her starting point to consider aspects of ‘power’ in Australia. Interregnum will feature new work by the artist developed in response to artefacts from local historical collections.
