Glenn Close delivers a career-best performance in this thrilling drama, as a wife who has sacrificed her own talent to support her husband’s brilliant literary career.

Joan Castleman (Close) is a highly intelligent woman who has been a devoted wife and mother, while her husband Joe (Jonathan Pryce) taps their personal lives to write novel after novel. His success culminates in the ultimate recognition – the Nobel Prize for Literature. Together with their sensitive son (Max Irons), the Castlemans head to Stockholm for the Nobel ceremony. They are pursued by an insistent biographer (Christian Slater) who claims to have knowledge of family secrets. And on this trip, Joan finally appears close to breaking point. Close and Pryce are superb as the couple whose longstanding arrangement may be coming to a dramatic end, in this suspenseful story of self-discovery.
