Torino, 1980. During some labour strikes against the reorganization of FIAT, Emma and Sergio meet and fall in love. The two protagonists represent the parties the company would like to set against: Emma is an undergraduate Math student, works in the FIAT administrative department and is in a relationship with an engineer. Sergio is a worker, a hothead, eager to fight. She will compromise everything for him: Sergio lets her go towards a possible brighter future but it will turn out to be as disappointing as the reality they live in.
