EXHIBITIONS: PULSE OF THE DRAGON
22 Feb 2020 - 19 Apr 2020 | 9.00am - 4.00pm
Pulse of the Dragon is curated by Guan Wei and Cang Xin. Guan Wei is a local artist with a Chinese heritage. He has exhibited widely around the world and he was the first Chinese-Australian artist to have a solo show at the MCA in 2019.
The participating artists emphasise themes of religious witchcraft, mythology, folk art and folk culture as methods for opening-up understandings and perspectives of Chinese culture.
Pulse of the Dragon features a dynamic line-up of Chinese and Chinese-Australian artists, who approach these concepts from their local and international perspectives.
The exhibition artists include: Amy Fu (AUS/CHN), Cang Xin (CHN), Guan Wei (AUS/CHN [Glenfield, NSW]), Gu Xiaoping (CHN), Jiang Zhe (CHN), Palla Jeroff (AUS/ CHN), Yang Jinsong (CHN), Yang Xifa (AUS/CHN), Zhang Jin (CHN), Jin Sha (AUS/CHN).
Please note that the event to launch of Pulse of the Dragon exhibition will NOT be going ahead on 29 February. Unfortunately the artists who were coming from China have not been able to leave the country at this time. Together with the Casula Powerhouse Team, Guan Wei (guest curator) has decided that the exhibition should open as planned on 22 February but public programs should be delayed. We have a tentative date for public program day including acknowledgment of the artists and exhibition tentatively set for the 5 April. We will confirm at the earliest time possible.
