Workshops at Liverpool Hospital – 7 April, 9 June and 11 August, 11am – 1pm
Casula Powerhouse in association with South Western Sydney Health, at the Liverpool and Macarthur Cancer Therapy centres, has developed a series of art workshops that provide the local community with an opportunity to demonstrate their creative skills in aid of cancer support.
A cancer diagnosis has a profound impact upon the patient and those that care for them.
These workshops offer the opportunity to engage with a radiotherapy mask, which is a necessary restriction to immobilise patients during radiotherapy. The manipulation of the mask as physical object permits an exploration of the experience of cancer. The process of reclaiming and transforming the mask serves to raise support and awareness for the journey undertaken by patient, family and friends.
All materials will be supplied. All of the works produced will be exhibited at Casula Powerhouse, 24 August – 17 September.
