Material Minds is a new series of workshops incorporating artmaking, mindfulness and wellbeing.

Physical Copy invites you to join Anna Kuroda in unique multi-disciplinary workshop about language, both written and physical. You will be invited to choose a single Japanese character from a selection and in turn, learn its meaning.  You’ll then be instructed in the use of the fude, the traditional Japanese calligraphy brush, and draw the character onto traditional Japanese tissue ‘washi’ paper. This will then lead into you participating in a meditative dance workshop in which your body creates the movements of the brushstrokes of each Japanese character selected.

Material Minds has two sessions:

This program is facilitated by Anna Kuroda. She is a dancer and choreographer. Her practice is focused around reflection on the environment, and internal and external air flow surrounding the body to express sharpness, fragility and unique rhythm.
