Spectrum is a new creative learning program specifically
designed for children with Autism aged between 10-14 yrs. Working in small
groups, participants will be guided through a sensory approach to creative
learning based on exhibited art works at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (CPAC).
Each
fornight the Spectrum program will focus on experiencing and
discussing different artworks followed by a practical investigative workshop. Spectrum is design to combine small group learning within program
structure that emphasises continuity in respect of location and teachers to
reduce potential anxiety amongst participants.
Spectrum will be
facilitated 2 experienced art facilitators to maximum group size of 8.
The fortnightly workshop structure 10.30-12pm will consist of:
* 10 min. initial conversation, settle-in time
* 35 min. Art tour/Art focus
* 45 min. Art Activity
* Specific needs requirements will be taken from parents in relation to individual behavioural characteristics.

Facilitator: Dianne McLaughlin
Dianne McClaughlin is an artist and educator that is interested in the inherent qualities of artmaking as a tool of communication and realisation. Di has been awarded for works in both traditional and modern printmaking techniques as well as sculpture and has exhibited throughout the greater Sydney region. Having completed a masters of fine arts in print media from Sydney College of the Arts in 2013, Di is now undertaking an art therapy traineeship through Western Sydney University. Diane is experienced CPAC Access facilitator and program developer.
