Simpson, J. 202
He gave his life that others may live.
This is the extraordinary story of John Simpson Kirkpatrick and his donkeys, written by acclaimed Australian playwright Richard Beynon. Jack served as a stretcher bearer with the 1st Australian Division during the Gallipoli Campaign in World War I. After landing at Anzac Cove, Jack enlisted donkeys help him provide first aid and carry wounded soldiers to safety. Jack and his donkeys spent weeks under fire, bravely rescuing fallen comrades. This funny, inspiring and deeply moving play brings the Anzac legend to life.
By arrangement with Anthony Williams Agency and Advisor Mark Nagle, Liverpool Performing Arts Ensemble Inc. will bring this story to life.
