THEATRE: SHAKESPEARE'S HAMLET
21 Mar 2018 - 24 Mar 2018 | 11.00am - 9.00pmBook Tickets
Liverpool Performing Arts Ensemble Inc. and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre proudly present Shakespeare's Hamlet
Shakespeare’s Hamlet shows the remarkably human side of grief, and the ways in which revenge can shift from an act of defiance in the face of a monster to a curse and burden to be struggled against. Join our local performing arts company as they present a taut and muscular production of this classic text in 90mins.
As a living, kinetic production, Hamlet will surround the audience from all sides, centring viewers in the middle of the tragic spiral of the play. This fresh gender-blind production has a focus on exploring the roles of gender identity and expectation within Shakespeare’s classic text.
In this contemporary take on Shakespeare’s classic the mourning of Hamlet takes centre stage, as we face a young man ordered to kill, but struggling to justify the inevitable. His quest descends into madness as he drives away those closest to him, and as those around him begin to die his world begins to shatter and warp, becoming something unrecognisable and twisted.
The king is murdered in cold blood, and his son finds his world crashing down around him. Family members cannot be trusted, friends become foes, and the ghost of his father appears, pushing the world to its brink.
