Branch Nebula returns to CPAC with a work in progress. DEMO is a 30 minute choreographed performance where bodies and wheels collide on a custom skate ramp next to our graffiti tanks. This is an opportunity to see a work in development and all that goes into a performance with parkour, dance, skate, BMX riding and electronic music.

DEMO is tightly choreographed within a compact set of custom-built portable ramps, creating a 3D space in which vertical and horizontal planes are spectacularly traversed by two dancers, a parkour artist, two skateboarders, and a BMX rider.
With ramps launching bikes high into the air and bodies in motion drawing lines and impossible arcs, they leave visual traces in their wake: charcoal lines on the ground, and trails of smoke, evoking fragile images that blow away in the wind. The performers’ freakish skills pit the speed of wheels vs. the vulnerability of bodies on foot. They traverse time and space to create a visual representation of the moments that occur between creating an artwork.
This new work DEMO takes Branch Nebula back to the streets where it all began… and to the kind of public civic space that is central to a community's shared cultural experience.

DEMO was commissioned by the City of Sydney as part of Art & About Sydney.

DEMO has also been assisted by Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre; and by the Australian Government’s Major Festivals Initiative, managed by the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body, in association with the Confederation of Australian International Arts Festivals Inc., Adelaide Festival, and Sydney Festival.

Branch Nebula is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia Council and the NSW Government through Create NSW.
DEMO will be officially shown in it's finished form on Saturday 30th October on the forecourt of Customs House Sydney. https://www.artandabout.com.au/projects/demo-by-branch-nebula/
