BEYOND REFUGE: CITIZENS

Former refugees and asylum seeker artists, citizens and non-citizens of Australia reflect on the basic, beautiful and fundamental rights of every human being to freedom and peace.

CuriousWorks proudly presents a collection of photo-media and video works made by local Sydney based artists who are former refugees, current asylum seekers and first generation Australians whose families fled war to settle in Australia. Beyond Refuge: citizens is an exhibition that asserts the beautiful and fundamental rights of every human being to freedom and peace. It is also a cry to those who have lost their freedom, through the structures and exertions of power.

Artists: Soheil Ettehadolhagh, Hayder Al Bdairi, Dani Sitto, Khaled Mariam, Guido Gonzalez, Karina Gonzalez, Samia Halabi, Adam McPhilbin, Sean Ly. With support from Claudia Chidiac and Valerie Berry.

This exhibition is presented and produced by CuriousWorks and was first initiated through a partnership with Settlement Services International’s Arts Program.
