Today (and every day), we strive to celebrate and empower women.
International Women's Day is a global event celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also marks a call to action for fast-tracking women's equality.
From challenge comes change. In 2022, we have partnered with Liverpool City Council's Infrastructure and Environment team to celebrate women's achievements and inspire women of all ages through the Girls Talk Womens Work panel, which features advocates of change and equality. Our speakers will respond to the 2022 theme, #BREAKTHEBIAS. There will be opportunities to ask the panellists questions at the end of the event. The Girls Talk Womens Work event will include a light lunch, and plenty of time to network.
Our panellists include Kerry Toomey and Jade Baker - with more speakers to be announced closer to the date.

Kerry Toomey is a Gamilaroi woman who grew up in Pilliga, New South Wales and currently lives and works in Bundeena, NSW. Inspired by stories of family, her work grapples with themes of Indigenous displacement and oppression, as well as survival and resistance. She works across a range of mediums and uses a variety of symbolic materials to speak on these topics, such as tissue paper, lace, ochre, echidna quills, emu feathers, snakeskin, quandong seeds, leaves and flowers. Toomey has exhibited regularly in NSW since 2015.
One of the first Indigenous women to graduate with honours in Environmental Engineering at University of Wollongong, Jade has found a passion for all things science communications. She's spent the last decade delivering sustainability education to the community with Sydney Water. Not quite done telling people to turn off the tap, she's excited to be extending her reach across the state in a new role developing water efficiency projects with Department of Planning and Environment.

In 2019, we presented an incredible event celebrating women through conversations with incredible thought-leaders from the community. There were three panels that recognise the role, impact and perspectives of women in the following areas: Culture, Identity and Motherhood. These conversations seek to empower women in different stages of life, as our panellists are each from different cultural & professional backgrounds.
