About NEXT 2024:

Liverpool City Council and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre are excited to be hosting NEXT, our annual exhibition of artworks by HSC Visual Arts students from schools in the Liverpool LGA.

This is not only a great opportunity for young people from the Liverpool area to showcase their artistic talents and efforts, but it also gives members of the community a chance to see the amazing NEXT exhibition with artworks of local youths at the innovative gallery space at Yellamundie (Liverpool City Library) at Civic Place, 52 Scott Street, Liverpool.

The NEXT Exhibition is curated by Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, which is the leading arts facility for South West Sydney. Our vision is to contribute to an inclusive and creative community through the presentation and production of compelling, quality, and diverse exhibition programs. We are particularly committed to showcasing the talents of young people in the Liverpool area and supporting them in their personal and professional development.

For teachers:

If you would like your school to partake in NEXT 2024 teacher student nominations are open now until Monday 9th December 2024, 5pm.

Please note that nominations are open to nominations from teachers of HSC Students attending schools in the Liverpool LGA only. If you are unsure if your school is in the Liverpool LGA please consult Liverpool City Council's Maps of Liverpool: https://www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/council/The-Liverpool-Area/maps-of-liverpool

To nominate a student’s artwork you will be required to submit ONE online nomination form PER student [HERE] along with at least one jpeg image, but no more than three images, for each student’s work. Please ensure you fill out the form completely as incomplete forms will not be accepted. You can nominate as many students from your HSC class as you like. You will receive a confirmation email for each student nomination from you submit. All schools who put forward nominations will be represented in the exhibition.

The Curatorial and Collections team at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre will make the final selection of artworks from the teacher nominations.  Please be aware that sometimes, whilst we would like to exhibit the whole body of work, space might not permit this.

Below is an exhibition timeline, which outlines important dates to make note of. Adhering to these deadlines is essential to ensure that the exhibition process runs smoothly. Please confirm your school’s involvement by returning the nomination form complete with images, no later than Monday 9th December 2024, 5pm.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our friendly staff, via e-mail or phone.

We look forward to seeing what your talented students have achieved this year!
