Ken’s work has been described as the most original style to come out of Australia, and his paintings are in collections throughout the world. His career has also seen him produce a hugely popular range of clothing, design, accessories, stationery, and homewares – and in the process re-defining what being a successful artist can look like.
We will reflect on Ken’s career to date, popular culture appearances, Judy and his family business and other fascinating stories that have informed his incredible career. This will be an evening to learn more about the colourful life of the artist and his wonderful exhibitions Paintings You Probably Haven’t Seen and Liveable Art: Stories of Done Art and Design coming to CPAC from 24 July – 3 October.
Paintings You Probably Haven’t Seen features a selection of paintings executed between 2000 and 2020 and largely from the artist's private collection.
Liveable Art: Stories of Done Art and Design is a new exhibition, which is by you for you. Ken Done’s work is widely recognised as holding a special place in Australia’s cultural and visual identity and his artworks have inspired designs featured on clothing, accessories, stationery and homewares. Casula Powerhouse have been working with people in Australia who have cherished their Ken Done items at home over the years. This exhibition shares their stories and showcase the enormous impact this artist continues to make.
