One Past Liverpool exhibits emerging artists alongside the artists that have helped transform our building into Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.

One Past Liverpool marks the 25th anniversary of Casula Powerhouse as an arts centre. To consider this milestone, we have commissioned a group of artists under the age of 25 to create a new work by engaging our extensive archive and through conversations with many prominent Australian artists, curators and producers behind the centre’s projects. Each of these new commissions are exhibited alongside works from our past, to position them within the conversations and concerns that we have been responding to throughout our history. By displaying works from our history alongside new commissions, One Past Liverpool reveals how Casula Powerhouse has always been a key player in conversations about how ‘this place’ (our building, Liverpool and Western Sydney) represents itself and challenges those same ideas.

One Past Liverpool recognises that ‘this place’ is never still, static or fixed; instead, it is always growing and always pushing at the boundaries of what you think it might be becoming.

One Past Liverpool  present commissions by emerging artists: XXXL (Lizeth Mendoza Yalan, Lili Occhiuto, Liana Molina), Mark Bosch, Simone Cheuanghane, Anna May Kirk, Beryl La, Jack De Lacy, Loc Nguyen, Emily Roebuck, Kristina Savic, Louie Young.
