Paintings you probably haven’t seen features a selection of paintings executed between 2000 and 2020 largely from the artist’s private collection. As such, many of these works reflect Ken’s personal relationships with those closest to him, for example, the large Judy canvas and the four quirky dog portraits and his immediate surroundings, primarily his home on Sydney’s Chinaman's Beach. All of the paintings reveal Ken’s love of colour and of life.

From the acclaimed physical theatre company Legs On the Wall, Trestle is an explosive celebration of physical bodies activating space. In this one-off performance at Casula Powerhouse, their gravity-defying live art takes over the Turbine Hall gallery in a way that has never been seen before.

Featuring a stellar lineup of performers including Vicki Van Hout, Jana Castillo, Joshua Thomson, Anton, Kate Walder, Callum Mooney, Romain Hassanin and Olivia Hadley with composer and musician Jessica Dunn, they combine dance, acrobatics and a bit of chit chat using a set of painters trestle to take over CPAC’s cavernous Turbine Gallery.

This performance is specially created to be performed alongside the Ken Done exhibitions.

An evening with Ken Done offers rare insight into the extraordinary life and career of Ken Done, one of Australia’s most famous artists.

Join us on July 31 at 7pm for an evening of conversation with Ken Done, and Casula Powerhouse Director Craig Donarski, accompanied by incredible archival footage covering Ken’s many milestones.

Ken’s work has been described as the most original style to come out of Australia, and his paintings are in collections throughout the world. His career has also seen him produce a hugely popular range of clothing, design, accessories, stationery, and homewares – and in the process re-defining what being a successful artist can look like.

We will reflect on Ken’s career to date, popular culture appearances, Judy and his family business and other fascinating stories that have informed his incredible career. This will be an evening to learn more about the colourful life of the artist and his wonderful exhibitions Liveable Art: Stories of Done Art and Design and Paintings You Probably Haven’t Seen coming to CPAC from 24 July – 3 October.
