Casula Up Late is a new series of mini festivals hosted at Casula Powerhouse in the evenings throughout April to June 2022. These events showcase ground breaking arts and performance.

CULTURA ITALIANA  #3  3 JUNE FROM 5.30PM

Join us for an evening of Italian Culture as part of our Culture Up Late series in association with the Italian Institute of Culture Sydney. Transport yourself to Italy with a free Italian film screening of Balancing Act, a musical performance from Opera Australia Soprano Clarissa Spata and a quirky Italo-lounge vibe set from the Sounds of Seduction DJs.

For those budding artists amongst us there will an art workshop in our artist’s studio where you will learn to draw and paint like the Italian masters. So come and enjoy some time in our galleries, grab a drink from the bar and enjoy a free Italian film in our Theatre.

Be transported to Italy, all in your very own backyard!

We'll have the talented Clarissa Spata, who is a world class soprano with Opera Australia, or you might recognise from The Voice Australia 2020 on Delta Goodrem's dream team, will join us for a live musical performance. We'll have the Sounds of Seduction DJs return for another lively Italo-lounge DJ set for the evening.

We'll also be screening another Italian film, Balancing Act (2012), from 7.30pm for free in our Theatre. If you prefer to get hands on in a night of Italian culture, an art workshop in our artist’s studio where you will learn to draw and paint like the Italian masters. So come and enjoy some time in our galleries, grab a drink from the bar and enjoy a free Italian film or workshop at Casula Powerhouse.

Bellbird Dining & Bar will offer their traditional a la carte fine dining option throughout the evening alongside bar food options, plus a bespoke 6pm Italian-themed option for those that want dinner before the film. Plus we'll be firing up the wood fired pizza oven for an authentic vibe too.


GALLERIES AFTER DARK - DONE UP LATE - 4 JUNE FROM 5PM

This edition of Casula Up Late coincides with the late afternoon launch of two fabulous exhibitions at CPAC, Ken Done: Paintings You Probably Haven't Seen: Selected Works 2000 – 2020 and Liveable Art: Stories of Done Art and Design exploring the impact of the Done family on Australian art, design and life.

We also launch Zanny Begg's exhibtion 'Same River Twice' tonight.

Join us for a performance of TRESTLE from internationally renowned physical theatre company Legs on the Wall, plus pop up floor talks by members of the community sharing personal memories about owning a ken done design or artwork including bedspreads tea-towels, swimming costumes.
