MUSIC: SYDNEY YOUTH ORCHESTRA OPEN REHEARSAL
23 Mar 2019 | 2.00pm - 5.00pm
Join SYO’s flagship orchestra as Chief Conductor Alexander Briger AO puts them through their paces ahead of their season opener at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. On the program; Czech composer Janáček’s rhapsody Taras Bulba depicts the violent Cossack wars against Poland in the 16th century, while the ruthlessly self-critical Brahms deemed his Third Symphony to be ‘nearly perfect’.
This free event is a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with a full symphony orchestra in a relaxed environment. Audiences are welcome to grab a late lunch at Bellbird Dining and Bar, explore the artworks and architecture of the magnificent Turbine Hall or to simply sit back and enjoy the music.
