LOOKING AT PAINTING features artists that push the boundaries of the canvas. It features a mix of emerging, mid-career and established artists who work with painting and experiment with the medium through approaches to collaboration, material, process and installation.

Making Sense of Art : Timeline of Art

This online workshop will explore themes around the history of painting and will explore techniques used to extend the form and potentially to break rules and push the boundaries. After the 30 minute workshop, an in-conversation event will follow with artist Kirtika Kain, whose works are featured in the current exhibition ‘Looking at Painting’ in the Hopper Gallery. Kirtika will discuss her artworks and how her practice has developed.

Our second Masterclass is facilitated by Jody Graham. Come learn from one of the artists from the exhibition, Looking at Painting. Participants will be led by Jody in scavenging the Casula Powerhouse grounds for potential mark-making tools. You will learn to make art from anything! This masterclass will teach you new skills and materials.
